God Exists!
God exists.
So many people argue about the existence of God. To me, this is a complete waste of time. Clearly God exists. There are images, texts, statues, paintings, buildings, cities and countries, and entire world religions devoted to God. God exists.
So when somebody asks me “are you saying God doesn’t exist?”, I say no.
The problem is this: God is a symbol. Symbols exist. God exists as a symbol. However, because our brain lacks the basic ability to distinguish reality from symbols and sensations in our head, we believe that there is an actual living god who exists in 3-D reality – that is referred to by the worlds symbols, and our feelings about those symbols.
This is incorrect.
There is no actual, living, 3D reality god. There is only an infinite amount of ever expanding symbols for god – created by us mammals.
Symbols.
God is nothing more than symbols created by mammals, that create feelings and sensations in our brains that we believe are real.
That’s why “God” is so hard to nail down. It’s symbolic. The symbol of God is unique for everybody.
Ask yourself the simple question: What is God? Write your answer down and ask 100 other people the same question. You’ll be amazed.
The core idea that we are missing is this: God is symbolic. God exists as a symbol. But people are not fighting all over the world about God, rather they are fighting about their symbols of God. Abstract, emotion triggering symbols.
The only thing we can say with certainty is that we are symbolic mammals. We believe in the symbols we create, and we are willing to live and die by our beliefs in these symbols.
Frankly, if there was a real said God, I would insist that he/she be brought up on charges of genocide for all of the ills of the world. I would hold any severely neglectful parent responsible in a court of law. And for me, “the Father” would be no exception. I would argue for the death penalty just based on this parent allowing the oil spill to occur on his/her watch.
And don’t bother talking about free will. The ridiculous arguments for human free will are irrelevant. We don’t have free will. We operate mostly at an unconscious level of brain responses. We are not beholden to god, we are beholden to the unconscious emotional responses of our brain. Fear. Terror. The feelings of lack, danger, not being able to provide.
Conscious choice makes up a very small percentage of our daily operation. Unconscious emotions of fear, shame, guild, greed, and sexual desire makes up the rest.
There is limited choice in a field of unconscious responses to stimulai.
God is a fiction in our brains – that feels as if it is pointing to something real – but alas, it is not.
God is a symbolic, experiential, fictional reality – created by us mammals.
So, God does exist, but only in our brain.
There is no hidden secret to life, other than life simply is, in an ever expanding, infinitely creative Universe. In this sense, the secret has been there all along, it’s just we are too afraid to meet life on it’s own terms. It’s exceptionally freeing to come to know and understand that life simply is.
My advice to you: Enjoy your life. Like all things that live and die, soon enough, this too shall pass. So take time to enjoy the life that you have, now.
Life is. And I am perfectly OK with that.
