The work of Lawrence Lanoff could be summarized in two words - cultivating enlightenment.  

Through advances brain science, psychological freedom, positive sex and body image, and rational thinking, Lawrence's mission is to help people live more balanced, energized, enlightened lives. 

In short, Lawrence Lanoff is a de-mythologist helping people to cultivate the qualities of enlightenment in their lives - regardless of what they believe.  

Most of us realize that learning to control our brains - right now - would be immensely helpful in our lives. Learning how to let go, release, create change, and cultivate ease and flow within our minds, are important skills to develop. 

Lawrence helps people to recognized and deconstruct their long held myths and beliefs that have been holding their minds, and therefore their bodies and lives prisoner.

For Lawrence, our world is not a failure of myths, ideals, stories or believes, but rather a failure to adapt our myths, ideals, stories and beliefs to a world that is changing at unprecedented pace. 

The funny thing is that Lawrence never intended to buck the system of modern spiritual thinking. In fact, he began his journey as a true believer in all things spiritual and religious. But bucking the spiritual system is exactly what happened as an unintended consequence of Lawrence's relentless commitment to see life clearly, without filters, without forms, without myths.  

After years of practice, and thousands of hours of meditation, session work, energy work, and exploration of his own mind, Lawrence had the uneasy feeling that there was something rotten at the very core of religion and spirituality.  

As one of Lawrence's students once asked, "are you saying that the greatest teachers of all time; Buddha, Jesus, Mother Mary, Krishna, Muhammed, were wrong?" 

"Essentially, Yes," Lawrence said,"because they only understood a tiny part of the picture. They all lacked access to modern brain science." 

It became clear to Lawrence that all of the world's symbols of God have become the ultimate obstruction to the spiritual experience that people are so desperately seeking.

As a result of his peeling spirtitual mythology away from Lawrence's own life, it made everything else unwind. Lawrence feels that If we are to understand our place in the universe, and understand even the most basic laws, we must look for explanations that include the near at hand, science, evolution, rationality, clarity.

In these pages, Lawrence Lanoff explores subjects like film, art, evolution, sexuality, relationships, money, personal power, and most importantly — psychological freedom.

To deeply understand the symbolic nature of life is to experience relaxed, expansive freedom. The lessons within this site will teach you how the perceptual field of your mind works, how the drunken monkey mind is communicating with itself, and what you can do to lighten up.

The idea of lightening up, enlightenment,  is only the first stage of expanded awareness, and therefore, it is important to awaken and lighten up sooner than later. It is only the beginning of the human journey.

No matter how advanced you are, when you finally awaken, you will find that you are in kindergarten again. All things are new, fresh, and without bounds — uncertain and unlimited. Infinite.

Yet, paradoxically we must still live and thrive in the insane world, awake, free, but functional, as the drunken monkeys of small minded thinking constantly clamors for control of our bodies and our lives.

The brain is still evolving, still working things out. Contrary to mythological thinking, there is no there to get to. Heaven is nothing more than a human concept. And that's exactly why you can find your peace right here, right now - because it's all in your head!
